John T. Buckles, a prominent citizen of Logan County and for many years a leading stockman in the vicinity of Mt. Pulaski and Cornland, died Wednesday morning at 2:40 o'clock at his home, 405 Fourth Street, this city, of cirrhosis of the liver, aged 50 years. Mr. Buckles was ill forty days and bedfast for several weeks previous to the dissolution. He was born on a farm near Mt. Pulaski and was the son of the late Chalton Buckles. He lived on the home farm until about 23 years of age, when he located on another farm in the locality of Cornland. For a number of years he was a stock dealer. Four years ago he was appointed state asylum farmer and he held that place until about a year ago. Twenty-eight years ago he was married to Miss Georgiana McGee, and to the union eight children were born. The widow and the following five children survive: Carrie, Cora, Kittie, Forrest, and Eola. One brother and one sister are also left, Charles Buckles of Mt. Pulaski and Mrs. Charles Crane of Ripley, Okla. In politics, Mr. Buckles was a staunch Republican.

Funeral Friday morning at 10 o'clock at the Christian Church in this city, Rev. W. H. Cannon officiating. Burial in Steenbergen Cemetery, near Mt. Pulaski.
