Ellis C. Downing, 90, Mt. Pulaski, passed away at Vonderlieth Living Center, 8:35 a.m. Wednesday, June 28, 1978.

He was born in Mt. Pulaski the son of William H. and Eliza Harding Downing, June 13, 1888.

He married Ethel Ryan, January 19, 1910, in Lincoln, Ill. She passed away January 8, 1975.

Surviving are two sons, Eugene and Lester, Mt. Pulaski, two daughters, Mrs. Christian (Patricia) Erlenbush, Mt. Pulaski and Mrs. William (Betty) Atwood, Decatur, 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

One son and three brothers preceded him in death.

Mr. Downing was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Mt. Pulaski Christian Church, Mt. Pulaski Masonic Lodge 87 AF & AM, Mt. Pulaski Commandery 39 & Chapter 121 Mt. Pulaski Eastern Star.

Visitation for Mr. Downing will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Fricke Funeral Home, Mt. Pulaski. Masonic services will be held at 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, June 30, 1978, at Fricke Funeral Home with Al Morehead officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pulaski Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Mt. Pulaski Christian Church building fund.

Funeral services for Ellis Downing were held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 30, 1978 at the Fricke Funeral Home, Mt. Pulaski with Al Morehead officiating. Rosemary Fuiten, soloist rendered, Beyond the Sunset. Debra Fricke was organist. Burial was in Mt. Pulaski Cemetery.

Casketbearers were Roy Downing, William Downing, Wayne Downing, Stuart Erlenbush, Kent Atwood and Terry Atwood.
