B. H. Keck, prominent resident of Logan County, died at 6:45 a.m. Friday in St. Clara’s Hospital where he had been a patient since July 3, 1951. He was 78 years old.

The deceased was born in Sangamon County Aug. 25, 1875, the son of Ben and Pollie Keck. He married Sarah Scroggins March 18, 1902, and she survives as do a son, Robert of Mt. Pulaski, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Curtis of Tucson, Ariz.; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

The body is at Schahl Funeral Home pending final arrangements.

Mr. Keck was an organizer and charter member of Logan County Fair Association. He was an auctioneer for more than 40 years and was a farmer and livestock raiser. For four years he was mayor of Mt. Pulaski and served 12 years as road commissioner in Mt. Pulaski township.

He was sheriff of Logan County from 1934 to 1938 and a former member of Mt. Pulaski grade school board for eight years. A Mason for nearly 50 years, Mr. Keck was affiliated with the Blue Lodge Shriners, and Knights Templar. His affiliations also included the B.P.O. Elks lodge and Christian church.
