John L. Musick, 77, of 114 North Sherman Street, for twenty-five years fireman at the Lincoln State School and Colony, died at his home at 11:30 Friday morning, following an extended illness.
Five years ago, Mr. Musick suffered the amputation of one leg, due to a blood clot, and had been confined to his home most of the time since. Up until that time he had been employed at the Colony and, prior to that, had farmed north of Lincoln.
John L. Musick was born in Lincoln May 15, 1860, son of Levi and Elizabeth Staats Musick. He married Rebecca Minter at Edgerton, Kansas, March 10, 1884. She survives with the following children: Thomas W. Musick, Mason City; Mrs. Lucy J. Grubb, Lincoln; Levi W. Musick, Cherokee, Ia.; and Mrs. Vallie Campbell, Springfield. A son, John M. Musick, is deceased.
Two brothers also survive: Robert P. Musick, Atlanta, and Lucian L. Musick, Lincoln.
Mr. Musick was a member of the First M. E. Church. The body has been removed to the Goff Funeral Home pending funeral services, which will probably be held Monday.
