James Reese, one of the old settlers of Logan County, answered the final summons of his Creator Monday morning, December 9, and passed away in death at 3 o'clock at his home in Hartsburg. Mr. Reese was born September 10, 1820, in Union county, Pennsylvania, and at the time of his death 81 years, 2 months and 29 days old. Years ago, when a young man, he came west to grow up with the country and make his fortune. For a long time he had been a respected citizen of this locality. He was a farmer by occupation, but in recent years had lived in Hartsburg in retirement. The end was due to old age. Mr. Reese is survived by a wife and eight children. Arrangements for the funeral have not yet been completed.
