SERVICES HELD ON SATURDAY FOR MRS. EVERETT ROTHWELL

Mrs. Eula Samuels Rothwell, wife of Everett Rothwell of near Stanford, Illinois, died in her home at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, August 23, 1950, aged 56 years, 11 months, and 6 days. She had been in failing health for many months.

Eula Samuels was born Sept. 7, 1893 in Bath, Ill., a daughter of Dr. Dillard Samuels and Anna Madison Samuels. In her young womanhood, she came to the Mount Pulaski vicinity and, in Wilmington, Ill., on August 26, 1913, married Everett Rothwell of Mount Pulaski community. They lived in Mount Pulaski and Bloomington, and 10 years ago located on a Rothwell farm near Stanford. Decedent was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, the Christian church, and for years had belonged to the Contract Bridge club of Mount Pulaski.

During her long illness her mother, Mrs. Dan W. Ellis, left her Mount Pulaski home and spent much of the time at the bedside of her daughter.

Besides her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Georgiabelle Messenger of LeRoy; her mother, Mrs. Dan W. Ellis of Mount Pulaski; two grandchildren; and the following four half-sisters: Mrs. Tom Hopkins, Richmond, Calif.; Mrs. Lucy Jane Mirshak, Oak Park; Mrs. Lou Bodine, Memphis, Tenn.; and Miss Iris Samuels, Chicago.

The body was removed to the Schahl funeral home in Mount Pulaski, remaining there until the hour of the funeral service.

Funeral services were held in the Mount Pulaski Christian Church, at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Robert Wilkes. Appropriate organ numbers were played by Mrs. Frank E. Turley. Members of the Mount Pulaski Order of Eastern Star attended the services in a body.

Burial was in the Mount Pulaski cemetery. The pallbearers were: Dean Foster, Dr. C. M. Merriman, Wilford Scroggin Sr., Keith Rothwell, Claude Litterly, and Ben W. Ely.

The Order of Eastern Star conducted services at the grave.

There were a great number of beautiful floral tributes, and the flowers were in charge of six members of the Contract Bridge club. A number of relatives and friends from a distance attended the funeral.
