I WILLIAM GREEN of the County of Logan and State of Illinois of the age 59 years, and being of sound mind and memory do make, publish and declare this my last will and testament, in the manner following, that is to Say:
I GIVE and bequeath to my wife JANE GREEN all my personal property, money, credit notes those in action of whatever kind or nature so ever, also all my real estate lands and tenaments described as follows.
TO WIT The West half of the North East quarter and the West half of the SE quarter of Section Thirty-three (33) in Township Twentytwo (22) North Range Three (3) West of the third principal meridian in the County of Logan and State of Illinois to have and to hold during her natural lifetime for her use and benefit.
SECOND: I give and bequeath to my son THOMAS G. GREEN the West half of the NE quarter of Section thirtythree (33) in Township Twentytwo (22) N Range Three (3) West of the third principal meridian, Logan County Illinois to have and to hold unto himself, his heirs and assigns after the death of my wife Jane Green, provided my said son THOMAS G. GREEN shall pay the sum of five hundred dollars for the use and benefit of my grandchildren, WILLIAM T. SHERMAN GREEN and IDA GRACE GREEN as herein after specified.
THIRD: I give and bequeath to my son JOHN HENRY GREEN the west half of the SE quarter of Section thirty three (33) in Township twentytwo (22) N Range three (3) West of the third principal meridian in Logan County, Illinois to have and to hold unto himself his heirs and assigns from and after the death of my wife Jane Green provided my said son JOHN HENRY GREEN pay the sum of five hundred dollars for the use and benefit of my grandchildren WILLIAM T. SHERMAN GREEN and IDA GRACE GREEN as herein after specified.
FOURTH: I give and bequeath to my grandchildren WILLIAM T. SHERMAN GREEN and IDA GRACE GREEN each the sum of Five hundred Dollars to be paid by my sons THOMAS G. and JOHN HENRY GREEN which said sums of moneys is understood & is hereby made a lien upon the several tracts of land heretofore specified and willed to my sons THOMAS G. and JOHN HENRY GREEN. Said several sums of Five hundred Dollars to equally paid by my sons THOMAS G. and JOHN HENRY GREEN to my said grandchildren WILLIAM T. SHERMAN GREEN and IDA GRACE GREEN, as they respectively arrive at the age of twenty one years, if living at time. That if either one of my grandchildren died before arriving at the age of twenty one years leaving no heir then the surviving one to have and inherit the whole amount of One thousand Dollars to be paid as herein provided, but upon the event of both of my said grandchildren dying without issue their own bodies the said several sums of money of Five hundred Dollars each to revert and go back to my said sons THOMAS G. and JOHN HENRY GREEN.
FIFTHLY: I give and bequeath all the rest, residue and remainder of my real estate of every name and nature whatsoever to my said wife JANE GREEN whom I herby appoint my sole executrix of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 17 day of September in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Sixty nine.
Now I do by this my writing which I hereby declare to be a codicile to my said Will to be taken as a part thereof.
Will and directly give and bequeath to my son THOMAS G. GREEN in addition to what I have willed to him in my will of which this is a codicile Five acres of timber land lying and being in the County of Logan and State of Illinois and described as follows TO WIT Five acres off of the South end of the NE quarter of Section Four (4) in Township Twentyone (21) of the SE quarter N Range Two (2) West to have and to hold to his use his heirs and assigns forever.
SECOND I give and bequeath to my son JOHN HENRY GREEN Five (5) acres out of the South part of the NE quarter of the SE quarter of Section Two (2) West and adjoining on the North line of the five acres that I have willed to THOMAS G. GREEN to have and to hold to his use and his heirs and assigns forever.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 30th day of August AD 1871.
